MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR – Bernard L. Jackson
Dear Friends, I wish you well as we prepare for another spring and summer season. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students who are advancing in grade school, high school and of course, college. A special salute goes out to those students that have been accepted into college this fall.

A special thanks to our DPW for the tremendous job they did throughout this past winter. The work on Boulder Avenue is still plodding along, as the contractor attempts to blast through the heavy rock ledge to enable them to finish installing the last of the sewer drainage pipes. I wish to thank all the residents in that area for the patience they have exhibited during the hardships and adverse conditions during this period.

I will be calling on you in the next few weeks for any and all ideas that you may have in helping to organize a nice Hillburn Family Picnic Day for our Village in the fall. Anyone wishing to volunteer to serve on a planning committee for the event can contact the Village Office. Thank you and God Bless.

HILLBURN CLEAN-UP DAY – APRIL 24, 2010
Sincere appreciation is extended to all residents who participated in this year’s Hillburn Clean-Up Day. Our Village looks beautiful! Let’s all do our part throughout the year to dispose of trash properly.

REMINDERS/REGULATIONS

West Nile Virus Prevention - In an effort to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and spread of the West Nile Virus, residents are requested to remove any standing water in containers, pots, on tarps, etc.

Bulk Trash Pick-Up Program - Bulk trash is not to be placed at curbside any earlier than the weekend prior to the scheduled pick-up. Bulk trash placed at curbside at any other time will not be picked up by the Village and the property owner will be responsible for removal of same. If you require a bulk trash pick-up at another time during the year, you must file a Request for Special Pick-Up PRIOR TO PLACING TRASH AT CURBSIDE. You will be responsible for a fee of $50.00 plus the dumping fees. Forms are available at Village Hall.

Maintenance of Property – As required by Hillburn Village Code as well as New York State Law, property owners are required to maintain their properties. Failure to comply will result in the issuance of an Order to Remedy Violation. Let’s all work together to keep our Village looking great.
